"Happy Birthday"
-
The Wailers News would like to send out a very special birthday wish to the late Peter Tosh, who was born on October 19, 1944 in Grange Hill, Jamaica. Skilled in the melodica, guitar, piano, and of course vocals, his music is still as pertinent today as it was the day he recorded it! Happy birthday Peter!
"A Tribute To The Stepping Razor"- After much anticipation, the Peter Tosh boxset has finally been released. "Honorary Citizen" features 44 rare, live, and classic Tosh tracks; and is a must for any music fan! Whether you're a Tosh fanactic or a newbie to Tosh's genius, this set has something for you. Follow the "tosh box" link at the left or click here to see a complete track listing and a lengthy review of the set.
"Jah Bunny in the USA"- Bunny Wailer is scheduled to perform two dates on the east coast in the upcoming weeks. He will be at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Friday, October 10. Tickets are $25 and may be purchased from TicketMaster. Bunny Wailer will also be performing at the Amazura Club in Jamaica, New York on Sunday, October 12. Other artists at this show include Freddie McGregor, Nadine Sutherland (who among other things sung back-up for Peter Tosh's Grammy award winning, "No Nuclear War"), and guest host Mutabaruka. Showtime is at 10pm EST and tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door. Extra special thanks to jamaica4me@aol.com for the New York date!
"Peter Tosh Birthday Celebration"-
New Releases- "Dreams of Freedom" - This Axiom/Island Records release is an ambient dub translation of classic Bob Marley & The Wailers songs, done by Bill Laswell. The album has received poor reviews. Let the buyer beware! Click here to visit www.bobmarley.com section on this album, to hear sound clips and a video interview with Laswell himself, to hear the album for yourself. Hopefully now, Island will realize that true fans want the real t'ing and not merely an imitation. The infamous and much talked about Dennis Thompson dubs of every Bob Marley & The Wailers album will do nicely!
