Christies is also auctioning off rare memorabilia the same day from the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, John Lennon, Hank Williams, and Cab Calloway.

"BBC To Release Wailers Tracks" -
BBC The head of music at BBC Worldwide (British Broadcasting), John Willan, is in the process of releasing the incredible sessions that The Wailers (Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer) did for BBC radio back in May of 1973.

If you've never heard these before, it's the Wailers at their absolute best! It is also one of the few known live recordings of Bunny Wailer with the Wailers (he sat out most of the 1973 Wailers North American tour).

This news comes after the sucessful recent release of the Led Zepplin BBC tracks. Also planned to be released are BBC sessions from Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones, among others.

The particulars are still being worked out, so the release date is unknown.

"New Releases" -
- new release #1-
St. Martins Press is releasing a new book entitled, "Bob Marley:The Patron Saint of Reggae", as part of their Modern Icons series. The book is by Scotty Bennett, and is expected to hit stores early in February. The suggested retail price is a measly $9.95 for a hardcover edition.

- new release #2-
PID Records in Japan is releasing a whole slew of new bootleg Bob Marley & The Wailers' concerts on CD. Each will cost about $35, and will be available on or around February 10th in most record stores that sell imports. Here's the titles:
  • 1976 Apollo Theater New York
  • 1978 One Love Peace Concert
  • 1978 Rotterdam (2 CD set)
  • At The Lyceum In London
  • Live 1976 Roxy Theater L.A.
  • Live 1979 Brisbane Australia
  • Live 1980 Dortmund Germany
  • Live 1980 Miami USA

Judging from the list above, some of the dates and/or locations are very questionable!! Also, those who only go for high quality live recordings, these most likely are for you. Let the bootleg buyer beware though!

If you want to find the real dates for the above shows, or for any Bob Marley & The Wailers' show, check out our newly revised "Bob Marley & The Wailers Tour Dates" section. If you didn't know already, this is the original and most complete site for the dates, and is a great acessory for any Wailers fan!

- new release #3 -
Ky-Mani Marley will be featured in an upcoming movie soundtrack, entitled "Senseless", starring Marlon Wayans and David Spade. The song for the soundtrack is called "Gotta Be...Movin' On Up", and also features Prince Be (of PM Dawn) and John Forte (a member of the Refugee All-Stars). If the title sounds familiar, that's because the songs is inspired by "The Jeffersons" TV theme song. The soundtrack is on the Gee Street/BMG music label, due to be released on February 10.
